CRANBROOK & SISSINGHURST PARISH COUNCIL MINUTES OF THE PLANNING & PRESERVATION COMMITTEE HELD ON 21ST NOVEMBER 2023

Declaration of Interests, Dispensations and Predetermination:

Members are required to declare any interests, dispensations or predetermination on items on this agenda. Members are reminded that changes to the Register of Interests should be notified to the Clerk.

Present:  Cllr. Bunyan (Chairman), Cllrs. Somers, Hatcher and Fletcher

Apologies:  Cllrs. Gilbert and Kings

PLANNING APPLICATIONS:

23/02747/FULL

White Horse Inn High Street Cranbrook Kent TN17 3EX

Retention of public house and Manager’s flat.  Conversion of upper floors/outbuilding to create five one-bedroom dwelling units, including reconfiguration of the beer garden and car park.

The Parish Council recommended REFUSAL for the following reasons:

  • Lack of parking spaces – Parking could easily be improved by reconfiguring the outside space by moving bike store/bins to incorporate additional space.  The garden to the outbuilding should include a parking space thus providing at least two additional parking areas

The Parish Council would have otherwise supported this application as it does meet the local housing need.

Proposed by Cllr. Bunyan seconded Cllr. Somers and agreed.
