Cranbrook Union Windmill

Cranbrook Union Windmill is the tallest Smock Windmill in England, at 72 feet high, with unique, panoramic views of Cranbrook. Mary Dobell had the windmill built in 1814 by James Humphrey, a local millwright, for her son Henry.

Nowadays, whenever possible, the windmill is worked and grain is milled during opening hours – flour can be bought in the Mill Shop. There are models for making flour, which are fun for children to operate, together with quizzes and exploration.

Guides are on each floor and written information is available in several languages.

Visits and full guided tours can be arranged for all age ranges at any reasonable time throughout the year.

Access to Cranbrook Union Windmill is via The Hill, St David’s Bridge, Cranbrook. Postcode for satellite navigation is TN17 3AH. Further information is available at http://www.unionmill.org.uk
