Wellbeing in the Weald Fair Saturday 16th March 2019 9.30am-12pm at Vestry Hall

Wellbeing in the Weald is a voluntary initiative whose objective is to set up and promote existing voluntary clubs that support Wellbeing. In January we set up the Compass Community Choir which has identified a need for community activities- with over 100 people ranging from 10-87 years attending every week. Since then, an army of good people have come forward willing to give their time and energy to other projects that will build a more resilient community. We will be promoting these proposed clubs as well as those already running at our Wellbeing in the Weald Fair. This will be an opportunity to recruit volunteers and encourage people to try a new hobby to improve their health and wellbeing as well as make new friends along the way! The clubs we hope to launch (if there is enough interest and volunteers include): Wellness walks –on different terrains and distance that will allow people of all physical ability to participate Allotment/wildlife garden/beehives Art groups -Pottery /drawing /painting Community bookshop /reading and creative writing group Voluntary drivers –providing lifts to GP/hospital appointments Men’s Shed – where people can get together to do small repairs for the housebound IT club- teens teach the elderly how to text and email or use the internet Craft – Knitting/Crochet/ Sewing Bridge/Chess and board games Young People’s café Carers group – for both child and adult carers Yoga/dance/ pilates Meditation/mindfulness classes Choir- already set up and thriving but perhaps and ‘Tots and Gran-ps ‘ , Dementia and a Men’s Choir. Cycling group As you can see the possibilities are limitless. But we need engagement from the whole community to make it work. There is constant talk about the death of the high street, crime, rise in mental health problems and social isolation. I believe we can build a thriving resilient community that becomes an even more desirable place to live, work and visit if we come together with ideas and energy. If you would like to promote your club, have a skill you could share OR can donate a cake or raffle prize, please email wellbeingintheweald@gmail.com Please do pop in to the fair, have a cuppa and see what’s going on in your community!
