Changes to the out of hours GP-led service operating from Cranbrook Primary Care Centre

We want to make sure you get the right care when it is urgent or an emergency.

As part of plans to improve urgent care in west Kent, we are making changes to bases for the out of hours GP-led service, which offers care when practices are closed.

Appointments with the out of hours service are accessed by calling NHS 111.

As of 15 December 2017, the out of hours GP-led service, previously based at Cranbrook, will operate from the two main hospitals in the area – Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury and Maidstone Hospital – and we will no longer offer out of hours appointments at Cranbrook Primary Care Centre.

IC24 will retain the GP car within the Cranbrook area to support patients who are unable to visit the hospital site and need to be visited in their own homes.

We believe the changes will provide a better service for you, including:

  1. Better integration of services through co-location with local A&E
  2. A consistent 24 hours-a-day service from both sites
  3. Better use of the staff available.

These changes were discussed with the public at listening events over the summer, where people generally supported them. They are part of wider changes that will see improvements to urgent care locally and to the non-emergency NHS helpline NHS 111.
